About Pentecostal Pastor
Based on a Pentecostal Worldview
A Pentecostal worldview begins with a full and hearty embrace of the historic, orthodox Christian doctrines as outlined in the ecumenical confessions such as the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Chalcedonian Creed. This includes the belief in the supernatural creation of the heavens and the earth in six days out of nothing; in a historical Adam and Eve made by God in His image and brought to life by the Spirit as the Genesis account reveals, which means a rejection of all evolutionary theories; and all the miraculous works of God revealed through Scripture, from Genesis through Revelation.
Pentecostals affirm that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and in its original texts is infallible. We acknowledge the reality of the virgin birth of Jesus Christ; that Jesus was both all God and all man and that He was without sin. He was put to death on the cross by a historical Roman ruler (Pontius Pilate) with the result that His blood atones for our sins. He was physically dead and buried; God resurrected Jesus from the dead and He bodily ascended into heaven. There Jesus remains enfleshed with a glorified body and intercedes for His people while also ruling heaven and earth.
Pentecostals view the world through the understanding of the real work and constant presence of the Holy Spirit in a non-dispensational manner. The Holy Spirit has always been present and active in the world in a supernatual way and dispenses gifts to believers in the Old Testament (see Exodus 28:3; 31:1-11; 35:30-35; Numbers 11:25; 2 Samuel 23:2) and in the New Testament (Acts 2:1-4; 1 Corinthians 12; etc).
